Dear Resident
Bradford on Avon Neighbourhood Plan
I’d like to
invite you to The Vaults Exhibition Centre in Lamb Yard to see an important
stage in the preparation of Bradford on Avon’s Neighbourhood Plan. Introduced in 2010 as part of the Localism
Act, neighbourhood planning is a new way for communities to decide the future
of the places where they live and work. When
approved, the Plan gives the community much greater power over what is built
where, and how.
We want to ensure
the Plan is imaginative and forward-looking. It will be shaped by national and
local planning policies but equally by responses received from the
community. External constraints mean
that we’re not looking at major expansion in Bradford on Avon – but we do
want to leave the town in good heart for future generations to enjoy.
The town has
changed considerably in recent years and there is continuing pressure from
developers wanting to build. This plan is being developed to enable the
community of Bradford on Avon to have a greater say in the extent and scope of
any future development and land use. A lot of progress has been made over the
past two years involving many volunteers and members of the community, and
there have been several previous consultations. Now, before completing the town’s
Neighbourhood Plan and circulating the final draft, we want to highlight the
main proposals to ensure they carry general support from the town, and to
enable us to make any necessary amendments.
So please come along to the Neighbourhood Plan consultation in the
exhibition space at Made in Bradford in the Vaults in Lamb Yard in the
town centre – from Monday 2 March for two weeks. You will also be able to see
and download the materials online at

This is your
opportunity to make a contribution to the discussion – so please tell us what
you think.
Yours sincerely
Cllr. Gwen
